I don't know, I'm definitely not an expert by any stretch of the imagination but while watching some of chapter three last night (I can't seem to get through an entire chapter in one viewing) I thought to myself that the writing is incredible.

I have thought about researching LEGION to better understand the show but I decided against it.

Well, the audience slide is continuing. After losing 500,000 viewers after week 2, it appeared the slide bottomed out when the audience only dropped 40,000 viewers for week 3. However, the show dropped another 300,000 viewers for week 4 compared to week 3 and the total audience is now less than half of the premiere. Any further dropping and the show is a goner.

The thing is, though, as I mentioned before, of those 500,000 that might have dropped off from week one to week 2, how many were regained once the 7 day DVR ratings were factored in. And who knows how many of the 300,000 that dropped off from week 3 to week 4 could be regained with the 7 day DVR ratings. I know I rarely watch anything live anymore, so if I was a Nielson family, no show would be registering viewership from me - but I do DVR dozens of shows and I do watch them within 7 days of their original airings. And most of my friends follow the same practice. So these days the live ratings are only a fraction of how well a show may or may not be doing and any discussion of a show's ratings that doesn't include its 7 day DVR ratings isn't presenting the whole picture. That being said, though, if the 7 day DVR ratings are also falling, that definitely wouldn't bode well for show...

I just tracked down the latest DVR numbers, which are for Legion's second week, and to say the show improved with those numbers would be an understatment because in the demo it gained by a whopping 160% - and in viewership it gained by a nearly as whopping 157%. For example, Live/same day viewership was 1,133,000 and the 7 day increase was 1,777,000 (157% more than the live numbers) for a total of 2,910,000. If things continue to play out similarly, the show is definitely not in as much trouble as some would have you believe...

Sorry MB, in this case you are wrong. You can't compare live ratings in week one and ratings plus dvr in week 2 and say somehow the audience came back. Wrong. The live ratings for week one was .7 and week 2 was .5 and the rating plus dvr week one was 1.6 , the rating plus dvr for week two was 1.2. That's a big drop by either comparison. The live rating for week four was .4 , so when the live rating plus dvr comes in, it will be down further from weeks one and two..it has to. I follow the site tvbythenumbers and they know their stuff. I think we need you down here working in the Orlando Magic public relations department telling everyone what a great season they actually are having. Lol.

Actually, all the ratings figures I shared were for Legion's week 2 - and they actually all came from tvbythenumbers.com's own charts for the cable/DVR ratings for the week of Feb. 13 -19, which were posted today.  [snow_smiley]

As for whether or not the Live +7 DVR numbers for weeks 3 and 4 will hold up and the totals might be similar to the total ratings for week 2, that remains to be seen. If they do go down, then, yes, I totally agree that won't bode well. But if despite the fact that the live ratings fell, the DVR numbers rise and the total numbers stay about the same, it won't be as bad as those who are only reporting the live numbers might be saying. That was my point. But only time will tell because the DVR numbers for weeks 3 and 4 aren't out yet...
