New members, or visitors about to register, please read

At this time, in order to post you must be logged in.

A valid email address is required for registration.  The process is not complete until you've agreed to the forum guidelines and clicked Register at the bottom of the registration page.

Once you've done this, a randomly generated password is sent to your mailbox from dsboards.com.  This password is case sensitive, so at least in the beginning you may want to copy and paste it from the email.  Please keep the email in a safe place for future reference; it will also contain your correct username for logging in.  We realize that the passwords are difficult to remember, and there IS a procedure for changing it to something you prefer-- it's explained in several places on the forums-- but you must first login with the password generated by the forums in order to gain access to your profile.  In other words-- use our password first, then you can change it later to one you like better.

If you lose the email containing your username and password, use the "forgot password?" link on the login page to request a new password.  If you've forgotten the username, enter your registered email address instead.  This is one reason for keeping the address in your profile current.  Another option is to answer the secret question you've already entered into your profile, but you're required to first enter your correct username or the address in your profile.

Your username (login name) will never change, even if your display name (the name that appears in your posts) does.  When you change the email address in your profile, however, a new password will be generated and sent to the new address.  This insures that the new email address is also valid.

A few suggestions:

* Type your email address carefully when registering to insure you'll receive your password.  If you feel the email address in your profile is in error, please contact an administrator.

* Clear out your mailbox before registering if it has a tendency to fill up.

* Check your spam filters if you've requested a password via the link but the forum email is still not reaching you.

*  If you've tried all of the above suggestions and the password is still not reaching you, please report it to an administrator.

* Choose a username that you won't mind typing every time you log in.  While passwords and email addresses can be changed, your username is permanent.

*  In most cases, logging in will require you to replace any space with an underline; Quentin Collins, for example, may need to log in as Quentin_Collins, or Elizabeth Collins Stoddard as Elizabeth_Collins_Stoddard.  If this applies to you, it'll be reflected in your registration email.

* Do NOT attempt to access another member's account.  We'll know it, and trust me, we won't be pleased.

* And please, only register once.  If you receive an error during registration indicating that the email address you've entered is already in use, it's a sure sign that you already have an account on the forums.  Old accounts here, even those from our earliest days of using YaBB, are still available for use.  Please contact an administrator or the global moderator if you need help locating your old account-- a link to email us is in our posts.

These procedures and measures are typical for most internet posting boards.  Thank you, and please enjoy yourself on DS Forums!

umm...I don't know if this is related...but just now (9pm est, Wed, 4/21...)

I was on Current Talk...thread Favorite Character.

There were two replies by newbies that didn't list any names...(I believe Luciaphil's response of like Liz & Roger??) is sandwiched between these two.

Unless, of course, I've lost it.... :-[  If so, just send money to a fund for my institutionalization, c/o Wyndcliff.

Are there nameless people????????

No, it's just a glitch that has been occurring for a while.  MB always fixes it eventually.  There are a number of ways to see who authored a post in the meantime; the easiest is probably to click the View Profile icon in the message.
