Like Cousin_Barnabas, I also suspect Burton knows the type of film he's making - he just doesn't want anyone outside of the people working on the film to know. At least not until he's ready to show it to them - and that may not be until the premieres.

However, we do know that Seth Grahame-Smith has seen two rough cuts of the film and we know what he's said about what he saw. And nothing that he's said about it has me worried.

On the other hand, I find possible focus group interference far more worrisome than anything Burton might be doing. Yes, the Wizard of Oz focus group skit they showed on this year's Oscars was funny - but one reason it was so funny was because there was so much truth to it when it comes to what can and does sometimes happen in those groups. Let's not forget the example I cited about six months ago of how Brad Pitt complained that his favorite scene in Legends of the Fall was taken out because audience response during test screenings ranked it the #1 most hated scene - and despite the fact that it was also ranked the #2 most liked scene...

Wow - the stills coming out just keep getting better and better! Thanks so much, Sara Monster, for these links today!  [snow_smiley]

(And now we know for certain that the dress Liz is wearing in the photo with Depp is not the dress she wears for the party.)

Does the linked article say that the movie has been delayed to June 22?

I do believe it does say the film opens on June 22nd. But keep in mind that that site is not a US Web site and the film opens on different dates in different countries, so that might not mean anything with regards to the US.  [snow_smiley]

OK that is a relief. When you click on the word rescheduled it brings you to another page where it says this:
"New date
The studio has not officially announced to the press, but the release schedule of 2012 has undergone some changes, including the premiere of Shadows of the Night . The film, which estrearia on May 11 this year - and so far had no trailer released - was postponed until the following month. The movie premiere was rescheduled for June 22."

Ah ha - I didn't see that. That may mean that the film has been delayed everywhere. I suppose we'll see...

Truthfully, though, it may not be a bad thing if it has been moved. I haven't looked at what else is opening in the US around that time, but that type of move would get the DS film out from under the shadow of The Avengers[snow_wink]

pfieffer is really looking gorgeous. VERY different take on the character than we've seen before. i was starting to think she wore that black dress thoughout the entire movie so it's nice to see her in something else.

GREAT shot of carolyn and david. i like them close in age for some reason.

love it!

Now that we know it's probably not from the party, I'm beginning to think that perhaps the photo we've seen of Barn and Liz is from when Barn first introduces himself to the family. And mostly because in the photos of him seemingly reacquainting himself with Collinwood he's wearing the same outfit.

MB I didn't see that other page until after I had already posted. Sorry about that. I think we would have known about a delay by now (?) Well here are the releases in the US for June 22 according to the comingsoon website:
_  Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter
- Brave (3D/2D theaters)
 - Nero Fiddled (limited)
 - Seeking a Friend for the End of the World

Hmmm - somehow I can't see Warner Brothers wanting DS to go head-to-head up against AL:VH.

Here's the article, translated with Bing:

The suspense night Shadows (Dark Shadows) from Director Tim Burton should have its first trailer revealed in a few days on the internet. But while the trailer doesn't come out, the Cine Marked obtained previously unseen images first hand this adaptation to the cinemas of the classical American series of the same title.

Starring Johnny Depp (Pirates of the Caribbean: the curse of the Black Pearl) and the actresses Chloe Moretz (the invention of Hugo Cabret), Helena Bonham Carter (Harry Potter and the order of the Phoenix), Eva Green (Casino Royale 007 –) and Michelle Pfeiffer (Hairspray – in search of Fame), Shadows of the night recently had its premiere rescheduled and will arrive to the cinemas only on 22 June.

In the year 1752, Joshua and Naomi Collins, with your child, Barnabas leave Liverpool, England, to begin a new life in the USA. But not even an ocean was enough to escape the mysterious curse that had the family. Two decades later, Barnabas (Johnny Depp) has the world at his feet, or at least the town of Collinsport, Maine. Owner of Collinwood Mansion, Barnabas is rich, powerful, and an inveterate playboy ... Until he makes the serious mistake of from the heart of Angelique Bouchard (Eva Green). Angelique, a witch in every sense, a condemnation of the target worse than death: transforms into a vampire and then buries alive. Two centuries later, Barnabas is mistakenly released from its tomb and enters the world quite different from 1972.
