O is for obtruncate - to cut or lop off the head of. [snow_wow] Dr. Lang wanted to obtruncate Jeff, until Barnabas and Julia stopped him. Also, the judges authorized the people who do such things to obtruncate Judah Zachary. [snow_shocked]

P is for paralogize (or English spelling) paralogise - (verb) to draw conclusions that do not follow logically from a given set of assumptions; to reason falsely. A similar word is paralogism - (noun) an unintentionally invalid argument; false reasoning. [snow_huh]

There were very many instances on DS during which
paralogism was used.  Barnabas and Julia in particular would paralogize each other. [snow_wink]

Q is for quatrayle - a person's great-great-great grandfather.  Gabriel Collins was the quatrayle of David Collins; Carolyn Stoddard; Chris, Tom, and Amy Jennings; and Joe Haskell. [snow_wow]

R is for reticent - disposed to be silent or not to speak freely; reserved; reluctant or restrained. In episode #483, after Willie was released from Wyndcliffe, Barnabas told Julia that he thought Willie was more subdued and reticent[snow_sleep]

Gabriel Collins was the quatrayle of ... and Joe Haskell. [snow_wow]

As no one else has mentioned this, I guess I'll point out that Joe isn't actually a Collins. There are several topics on the forum that deal with how/why Joe has to be related to Chris (especially) through the Jennings side of the family. There's also a family tree in both versions of the DS Almanac that shows this.  :)

S is for Shirley Grossman - Grayson Hall's birth name.

Oops! My bad! [snow_embarrassed] I neglected to look in my copy of the DS Almanac and relied on an (obviously) inaccurate family tree obtained from an obscure on-line source. I always wondered about that. Thanks for clearing it up with me, MB! [snow_cheesy]

T is for timid -  Lacking self-confidence; shy; fearful and hesitant. Willie was very timid at times, especially right after he released Barnabas from his coffin. [snow_shocked]

U is for underneath

The release lever to get out of the secret chamber in the masoleum was underneath the stone step.

V is for vinegar, which will catch less flies than sugar according to Roger (during a rare father-and-son chat).

W is for weed -  a mourning band of black crepe or cloth, as worn on a man's hat or coat sleeve. W is also for weeds - mourning garments: widow's weeds.

During the 1840 PT storyline, each man in the Collins family wore a
weed around his upper arm after someone died. Also, the women wore weeds.

X is for xenial  - of or concerning hospitality towards guests. There were many times when people were xenial on DS. At this moment, Prof. Stokes and Elizabeth Collins stand out in my mind as being particularly xenial.  One of the few times Barnabas was xenial was at his costume party. [snow_wink]

Note: doctor, extremely, ... young, ... have already been used.

Y is for Yolanda Hawkins (now a NY director) who was in the cast of the 1988 off-Broadway stage version of DS.

Z is for zoilism - carping and unjust criticism. Clarice Blackburn played three characters - Minerva Trask, Abigail Collins, and Mrs. Johnson - who all displayed zoilism[ghost_wink]

I haven't been here in ages.  Can I play twice in a row?

BUZZ!!!!  I don't see BUZZ on the list!  So "B" must be for BUZZ Hackett!  (Was that his dad that Liz sold some property to when she was trying to raise money to fight Burke?)

("B" is also for BED which is where I should be instead of in front of my computer!  LOL!) [ghost_cheesy]

OK, I waited til the next day to post this, but I have a "C" too!

C is for Chauffeured Cars.  That's the third way Burke told Vicki in answer to her question, "How do they expect you to get into town from here?"

"Broomsticks, unicorns..."  he told her, "and chauffeured cars."
