[pointing-up]  A post worth revisiting that's related to the previous one:

Yesterday I forgot to share the full music cue that should play and likely does play over Scene 150 and into the opening of Scene 153 in the 129 minute version. On the Movie Soundtracks CD it's entitled "Quentin's Daydreaming (Quentin's Theme)," no doubt because it first comes up in the film during Scenes 33 through 38 while he muses, has a vision, and recovers. So, here it is to help get a better idea of how Scene 150 plays in the 129 minute version and how the music cue transitions to Scene 153:

...

I also forgot to mention, though I have mentioned it with regard to other scenes, but it really is a shame how much of a blow out there is when it comes to the windows as they're seen on the VHS and even the Laser Disc as opposed to how most of the details of the windows show up much clearer on the Blu-ray/DVD.

And there's also something else about the previous two videos that I want to get into - but I'm going to hold off until we reach Scene 169...

I just saw where this is being shown again this upcoming Saturday, April 27th. I have no idea if the other showings cut anything out for time (meaning more commercials) but now that Svengoolie is two and a half hours long, if anything was cut, perhaps it will be put back instead of just adding more Svengoolie shtick, which is always fun, but I'd rather have the full version of whatever film is being shown.

Revisiting how the differences in the opening of Scene 153 play across the various versions of the film:

And here's another example of a music cue that rightfully doesn't play as part of a scene on the VHS but does in every other release of the film. We've already dealt with two such cues: one at the end of Scene 103 when Scene 104 was cut in the 94 and 97 minute versions of the film but does appear in the 129 minute version, and another at the opening of Scene 117 when Scene 116 was cut in the 94 and 97 minute versions of the film but does appear in the 129 minute version. And this time around we're dealing with the opening of Scene 153:

Here we have the Laser version:

And here we have the Blu-ray to represent every other version:

The cue heard on the Blu-ray and others other than the VHS/Laser is obviously a segue from the end of Scene 150 (which only appears in the 129 minute version of the film - all other versions go from Scene 149 to Scene 153, as can be seen in the Laser and Blu-ray clips) -

(ADMIN: Edited to replace VHS video with Laser video)

And as you can see, since the above post was originally made, I've replaced the VHS video with video from the Laser Disc...

Revisiting how Scene 153 is scripted:

Moving on to the next scene (which is one of my favorite scenes in the entire film):

                                              DISSOLVE TO:

153    INT - GALLERY - DAY                                153

as Tracy, in deep thought, sits staring at Angelique's
portrait, Carlotta ENTERS, carrying a vase of freshly
       cut flowers.

                             CARLOTTA
                 Oh, Mrs. Collins, I thought
                 these might brighten the room.

She puts them on the mantel before Angelique's portrait.

                             CARLOTTA
                 Aren't they lovely?

                             TRACY
                      (ignoring the question)

And that's when today's first quote -

Page 72/Scene 153 - Tracy: 'Carlotta, where is Mr. Collins?'

- comes up, followed by today's second quote -

Page 72/Scene 153 - Carlotta: 'Oh, didn't he tell you? He's just left for town. He needs some supplies. You do know he's painting in the tower, don't you?'

- coming up.

And so far as differences with the dialogue go, Carlotta's first line is actually delivered as "Oh, Mrs. Collins ... I thought these might brighten the room" - and Tracy actually asks "Carlotta, where's Mr. Collins?" - and the first part of Carlotta's reply is actually delivered as "Oh...didn't he tell you?"

And so far as the differences with the descriptions and the directions go, Scene 153 does not begin with Tracy staring at Angelique's portrait because it actually begins with a vase of daffodils -

- being carried into the Gallery - and because Angelique's portrait is not hung above a mantel, Carlotta actually carries the vase over toward the table that's below where the portrait actually hangs - and after Tracy asks where Quentin is, I do love how Carlotta barely covers a series of facial expressions -

- as she's hardly able to cover her glee that Tracy doesn't know where Quentin is - and a shot of Tracy is actually on screen as -

- Carlotta says "You do know he's painting in the tower, don't you?".

And Grayson's script has several notes for this section of the scene. She writes that Carlotta is feeling well loved and happy - and that Carlotta will remove the dead flowers from the vase and handle one flower lovingly - and while she does handle one flower lovingly, there's no need for her to remove the dead flowers from the vase because the fresh flowers are already in a new vase, so she simply switches vases.

...

[pointing-up]  And as far as "today's" quotes go, it was on April 22nd this time around.

[spoiler]Today's quote:
Ep #973 (1970) - Sabrina - 'I know Chris has forbidden me to get involved, but I feel I MUST.'

From  "Robservations 6/9/03 - #972-973 - On the Run From a Shadow"
I want to try, she says, help Chris--I don't care how much he tries to shut me out, I will--I thought of one way--get rid of Bruno--Chris won't mention it, but I know he's worried about the fact that Bruno knows all about him--and Bruno is waiting for Chris. Quentin sits on the bed. I wish Chris had killed him when Bruno captured him, says Sabrina. Don't wish him that, says Quentin--every life he takes gives him great pain--very great pain--and he looks as if he knows exactly what Chris is experiencing.
He isn't to blame for that, says Sabrina. I know that, says Q--but the pain is still there. You have great insight, she says, seem to understand how others feel--please try to understand how I feel, she begs--Chris has forbidden me to get involved, but I feel I must.

The Robservations references the quote almost perfectly...

And if only they'd written Quentin like they did for this scene more often, he would have been a lot more interesting during Leviathans, which is a storyline he was all too often wasted during. But sadly, no - that's certainly wasn't what DC wanted pushed.  [easter_rolleyes]  I suppose we should just be grateful that we got this scene and the one between Quentin and Chris in Ep #962. And should we be surprised that both eps were written by Violet Welles? I think not...
