Calendar Events / Announcements '24 I / Dark Shadows Remembrance Weekend

I just happened to come across this announcement on a Dark Shadows News facebook page.

The Dark Shadows actors will join together with fans this summer in Southrrn California to remember Lara Parker with a special memorial event open to the public at no cost, in addition to a gathering celebrating the 100th anniversary of Jonathan Frids birth and a Dark Shadows banquet. Full details will be announced soon.

I was beginning to wonder if this was going to happen due to the length of time already but certainly glad that it is. I do hope some sort of tribute will occur during the banquet for the other Dark Shadows alumni who have passed since the last Dark Shadows Festival including John Karlen, Diana Millay, Denise Nickerson, Geoffrey Scott, Robert Rodan, Chris Pennock, Mitch Ryan, Bob Cobert and Sy Tomashoff.

Calendar Events / Announcements '24 I / OT: Kate Jackson on Celebrity Bowling

While browsing thru Freevee, I came across a silly show from the 70's called Celebrity Bowling. Teams of 2 celebrities would bowl against each other for some really rinky dink prizes for audience members whose names were drawn.Low and behold Kate Jackson appeared on the show.

Kate was not the worst celebrity bowler on the series ( I think that had to be Richard Deacon), but she wasn't far from it. Unlike some of the celebs who goofed around, Kate tried to take it very seriously. I think she only did it because she was teamed with Edward Albert ( who was pretty bad also) who happened to be her real life partner at the time. It was played best ball like golf and they lost bowling an 87. Unlike nearly all the celebs who appeared in 2 shows, Kate only did 1. Wonder why..lol.

All 3 seasons are on Freevee and she appears in Season 2 episode 28. Havent seen his yet, but Conrad Bain also appears on the show.

Current Talk '24 I / HODS: Miss American Vampire Beauty Contest

Ths may be a false heads up ... but there may be a Dark Shadows appearance of Sacheen Littlefeather on To Tell The Truth on Buzzr very shortly at 1:30 pm. Buzzr has been running Academy Award theme shows this week and ran an episode of To Tell The Truth where they had to figure out the HODS vampire beauty contest winner Sacheen Littlefeather ( who apparantly was replaced later on.) Buzzr ran the episode a couple days ago and only lucked out in catching it. Their online schedule stinks for detail but does say the next show is from 1970 , which would be the right time. If it is the correct episode, she is up first. They even do a little skit with the panelists. Give it a look at 1:30 and see if I guessed right.

Calendar Events / Announcements '24 I / OT: Eva Green in Nocebo

Went to see Nocebo last night. I believe it is a Shudder movie that is in very limited release. Our theatre only had one showing at 7pm nightly and will prolly be gone after 1 week so I wanted to check it out. Eva Green was excellent as a fashion designer was going thru unexplained health issues. Her husband was pretty unsympathetic and believed she was having mental issues. A young Filipino girl shows up almost unannounced saying she was contacted for maid/ nanny job to her young daughter. Without giving more away, she appears to be trying to help her using native remedys but is actually on a mission for revenge/justice. Eva really threw herself into the role and the movie was quite good as all the clues came up in flashback form. If you dont get to see it in the theatre, look for it later on Shudder if you get that channel ...I don't.

MB, while some of us have been posting captions in the older games archives, I noticed that the screen grab pics for in the Caption This for 1897 posted in 2014 aren't there anymore. Did they get lost during one of the crashes and gone for good? If so, they can be deleted to free up some space.The few small size pics are there but all the large pics don't show up. Unrelated, I noticed that the member video for KLS's Huff episode doesn't work either.

In case anybody might be interested, like last year, the Westminster Dog Show will again be held at Lyndhurst from Saturday June 18 thru Wednesday June 22.

Here is the announced tv schedule:

Sunday June 19 Fox 12:30-3 PM

Monday June 20 FS2 1 -4 PM

Tues June 21 FS2 1-4 PM
FS1 7-7:30 PM Preshow
7:30-11PM

Wed June 22 FS2 1-4 PM
FS1 7-7:30 PM Preshow
7:30-11PM

There will also be live streaming at westminsterkennelclub.org

Sat June 18 7:30 AM-4PM
Mon, Tues and Wed 8AM-4:30PM

Last year there were several shots and background history videos of Lyndhurst included - I would expect the same this time around. MB posted quite a few beautiful captures.

I just heard that Dark Shadows and Beyond - The Jonathan Frid Story was nominated for a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Daytime Special. Congrats to Mary O'leary.

For those who might be interested, FYI network will be showing The King of Queens episode entitled Cowardly Lyin today at 9pm. It has to do with Doug's friend who wants to go to the Dark Shadows festival but Carrie turns his girlfriend against letting him go and the scheme he comes up with thru Doug to try and go. Pretty funny stuff.

The 2nd of 3 Cannon episodes with Mitch Ryan entitled Murder by Moonlight will air on ME TV Thursday morning Sept 2nd at 3 am. This is the episode where Mitch's character runs his drug ring while behind bars. Maybe he got inspiration from how Burke Devlin would have operated ...

For those who might be curious, The Westminster Dog Show will be held this Saturday outdoors at Lyndhurst Mansion. It will be televised pretty much all day on various Fox channels. The Best of Breeds will be on FS-2 at 1pm, the Agility Competition will be on Fox at 5pm, and the actual competition will begin with the pre show starting at 7:30pm on FS-1. Pretty cool!
